The first thing I feel I need to say is if you join any Nuffield gym YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH THEM FOR 12 MONTHS!

Staff: quite simply they do not care about you being there. This goes from the very top right down to front of house. They are frosty and bored and they will let you know. No hello or goodbyes, grab your own towel, triple check you are booked on to a class because they will not have done it for you. Small things like that really spoil the atmosphere. However they are exceptionally efficient at letting you know if they can't get your membership fee. In fact they call you on the day and send a letter to you the next day even when it is their fault. This happen to me and when they realised it was their fault I got an icy and severe apology. I felt I couldn't say anything because like I said you are stuck with them for 12 months!

The staff will be so nice to you on your free 5 day trial pass because they are sales people and they are trying to convince you to join. Enjoy those 5 days while they last.

Facilities: these are second to none, but you will be using them in the most unfriendly gym in town. Please note there are NO DOORS ON THE MEN'S SHOWERS. Everything else has a door but the men's showers and they charge a premium rate for this. My husband and others have asked about this repeatedly and they say it is policy. When they do a changing room swap for repairs that's the only time men get to shower in private with dignity as the women's showers have doors.

Price: for me this is the most expensive gym in my town. I thought I was paying more for a better service and I was proved wrong. There is also NO DISCOUNT for joint or corporate membership. My husband and I pay £102 pm in total.

Classes: they have a wide variety of classes from the classics like spin and pump right through to the latest fitness craze. In fact they get full marks for the variety on offer! Unfortunately the classes are on at inconvenient times. For example how many people can get to a class which starts at 5pm where you have to book on in person 30 minutes before a class starts? Also despite having a dedicated spin studio the latest spin class is at 06:45pm. On Wednesdays and Friday no spin after 1:30pm.
